Happy new year folks!

Yes its that time of year when everyone’s broke, feeling sluggish, and wondering where the hell the last 12 months just went… ama right?

So what better way to kick start the year than a quick rundown of what’s hot in the fashion world from your favourite folk at WAM.

  • First Up NEON

Oh naaaaaa I hear you cry! I’m sure you’ve started to see it filtering through your Instagram and New In feeds but I’m afraid this ain’t no flash trend. Neon is here and its going to be BIG! So my advice is to just embrace it, feel that limey love trickling into your wardrobes and wear it with swag! If that head to toe look is giving you shivers, how about a nod to the trend with a neon bag or scarf like the below….

 

 

  • CHECKS? CHECK!

Again another trend I’m sure you have seen everywhere by now, checks are here and they’re here to stay! Grab yourself a bargain in the last of the sales as checks have the longevity for you to wear for the next season and beyond. Judging by the Pre Fall 19 shows starting to drop, checks are getting bigger and bolder, look for classic warm tones with bright flashes, and large red grid checks to keep looking fresh. 

 

  • SPORT GOES GNARLY 

Yeah dude! Looking for a fresh take on your sporty garms this year? Look to the beach. With bodycon styling, zip through tops and tie dye, the catwalks took a more surf style approach to sportswear this season. 

Not keen on riding this wave? Cycle wear is also a trend, with cycling shorts hitting most runway shows and reflective details everywhere. 

                     

  • ONE WORD: BEIGE 

If you invest in one colour this season make it Beige. This subtle hue is everywhere! Make a statement by dressing head to toe in different tones of it to look bang on trend!

  • “YOU GET A BAG, YOU GET A BAG!”

Bags are a real focus this year and I’m here for it. 

Fellas, I’m talking to you too! 

Key trends are; 

Miniature Bags (the smaller the better) – the mini Jacquemus is an influencer fave. 

Belted bags and Harness Bags – Safety clasp fastening is a must

Double Bagging – Say what? Layer your bags a la Chanel  

     

  • ANIMAL PRINTS

Again another trend that seems to be sticking, designers can’t seem to get enough of animal print. Snake as been the cool girl go to these last few months, however Leopard Print seems to be the go to on Mens and Women’s Pre Fall shows.  

Look for newness with quirky shapes or bold colours, or be more eco and dig out those past leopard print fancies deep in your wardrobe! 

               

  • UTILITY

Again another trend that always sticks around, heavy utility details are really f*&$ing cool! In particular really large buttoned utility pockets and bellowed pockets are a must on outerwear and bottoms. Key Items include a boiler suit, a safari style belted jacket and some cargo pants. 

          

  •  SUSTAINABILITY 

This is something WAM will look at more closely in the coming months, but we’re predicting this will be a key focus for 2019 and beyond. With consumers becoming more aware of where your food is coming from and where your plastic is ending up, clothing will become a key factor in this change as we look at ways to be more savvy with our everyday wares. As you can see from our key trends above, some of these trends come back again and again, meaning you don’t need to be flashing that cash every season and can freshen up a look with a few key colours and themes.
