On the 23rd June, H&M revealed its designer collaboration at the amfAR gala in Cannes, announcing joint collection with Giambattista Valli.
Five fashion icons: Kendall Jenner, Chris Lee (Li Yuchun), Chiara Ferragni, H.E.R., Bianca Brandolini d’Adda and Ross Lynch walked down the catwalk alongside Giambattista Valli and H&M’s Creative Advisor Ann-Sofie Johansson wearing the limited-edition pieces and giving a sneak peek to the collection.
The Italian born designer is most known for this beautifully romantic style collections which present each year during Paris Fashion Week in the Ready-to-Wear and Haute Couture shows. For this high-street collaboration, it seems this style is going to appear throughout. Social media blew up with images of extravagant pink ruffle dresses, lace corset details and everything you could possible want from this dreamy collection. The only question is figuring out where to flaunt these dresses as they are not exactly the most appropriate for going down to the local pub…
Men need not turn a blind eye, this is set to be Valli’s first collection to include menswear pieces including suits and tailoring. Despite joining forces with other high fashion names and designers in the past, this is also Valli’s first collaboration with a high street brand.
The official collection is set to drop in stores and online in November this year. As we could have predicted, the ‘pre-drop’ sold out online in a flash and we aren’t too keen on paying the Ebay re-sell prices of around £500… Instead we will be hitting refresh on the H&M website in November, praying to the fashion gods that we can grab something from the limited-edition collection before it sells out again. That’ll also give us a little extra time to save up for the frothy dress trend, and find somewhere to actually wear it!
