The much-anticipated collaboration of Rihanna’s ‘FENTY’ with luxury fashion house, LVMH has been confirmed and we couldn’t be more excited to see the collection reveal later this month. Rihanna has said to name the brand ‘FENTY’ and will present a ready to wear collection of fashion, shoes and accessories (including jewellery), which are said to be shot and directed by herself.

“Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits,” – Rihanna reveals in LVMH press release statement.

For those of you who don’t know, LVMH is a combination of global, luxury super-brands including the likes of Louis Vuitton, Moët & Chandon, Hennessy, Dior, Fendi, Marc Jacobs and many more. You could say it’s a pretty big deal…

“Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader,” LVMH Chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault says, “To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the Group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.”

If that wasn’t exciting enough, the collaboration holds special significance as Rihanna becomes the first woman to launch their own brand with the luxury conglomerate since Christian Lacroix in 1987, and the first woman of colour to helm an LVMH house. This not only marks a pillar for change in fashion but sparks cultural awareness and diversity in the industry.

The Barbadian pop-singer turned fashion icon posted the news on her Instagram…

“big day for the culture. thank you Mr.Arnault for believing in this little girl from the left side of an island, and for giving me the opportunity to grow with you at @LVMH . This is proof that nothing is impossible. Glory be to God.”

Names such as Pharrell, Mary J Blige, Cara Delevigne, Lewis Hamilton & more showed support in the comments. If you’re not already one of the 70+ million people following her on the gram, we definitely recommend it- we’ll be clicking refresh this month for updates on one of the most anticipated fashion collaborations of the year.
