It has been announced today by the Prince Estate that Pantone Color Institute, have released a brand new colour in honour of the late, GREAT Prince.

The colour which of course is a beautiful shade of purple (what else) has been called “Love Symbol #2” which is derived from the love symbol graphic used by Prince during his testy battle with Warner Bros. Records over the ownership of the master recordings of some of his biggest hits back in the nighties. The symbol was used on the cover of a 1992 album before he adopted it as his name in 1993 after the release of Purple Rain.  He dropped the symbol and returned to Prince in 2000 when his Warner Brothers contract expired.

The colour purple was synonymous with who Prince was and will always be. This is an incredible way for his legacy to live on forever,” Troy Carter, entertainment adviser to Prince’s Estate, said in a statement.
