One of our favourite events of the year and a day where we get caught up in the glitz and glam of the fashion world is the Halpern SS20 show at London Fashion Week.

Despite being involved in the backstage dressing for the past few seasons, the occasion doesn’t become any less exciting; counting down the days in anticipation, weeks before the show is set to take place.

The location once again moved from Park Lane (AW19) to One Great George Street in Westminster, a grand Edwardian style building, central to the hustle and bustle of tourist attractions. Upon arrival, I walk through the large, wooden double doors and straight into the energetic backstage area.

As the models were seen to by the hair and makeup team, this gave me the chance to take an initial look at the Spring Summer collection. All 31 looks had something spectacular to offer, whether that was Halpern’s signature sequins, bold prints or stunning structural pieces that really gave the wow-factor. Not to mention the co-ordinating Louboutin mules for each outfit; to die for.

As the girls emerge from the beauty area one by one, we assist in putting on the dress and shoes and lead the models upstairs to the line-up area. The team frantically run around adding extra finishing touches to each model, applying last minute hair spray, nails and make-up touch-ups. Meanwhile photographers are weaving in and out amongst us, capturing the buzzing atmosphere and the final preparations for the show.

Hair is poker straight and slicked back, with one featuring a stunning Swarovski crystal embellished crown (unreal!). Each model had graphic, black eye makeup with very skin and lips to highlight and dramatize the whole look- taking the glam factor to new heights!

The catwalk was held in a grand function room with high ceilings and featured low hanging chandeliers, a glamourous and luxurious setting to house the SS20 reveal.

The 31 looks transitioned from cocktail dresses, tailored suits, balloon hems and plenty of sequins. The colour palette also emerged from icey blues to lime green, metallic gold to leopard print; each look adding new elements to the mix and keeping the vibe fresh and interesting.

With a nod to Hollywood glam but with a fresh Spring-time twist, the collection is a spectacular mix of red carpet worthy looks and ones we really wish we could have in our wardrobes.

I know I say it every time, but it really is the best collection yet…
