I know we’re still in the midst of winter and going outside without a coat and scarf just isn’t an option, but this little peek of sunshine over the past few days has made us dream of Spring. When you think about it, it’s not too far away, which makes us wonder: what the hell are we going to wear?

Here is a list of upcoming trends that are set to be the next BIG thing, so if you’re super organised, you can start to think about making room in your wardrobe for outfits that show a little more skin, without the fright of getting frostbite as soon as you step outside…

  1. Short Suits

A Spring edit to tailoring. The more oversized, the better! Whether you opt for short shorts or ones that come below the knee, you’re sure to stay on trend by pairing them with a big blazer. Bye bye cycling shorts, hello Bermuda shorts.

  1. Power Prints

Jungle prints, clashing colours, polka dots, florals. You name it, you’re on trend. It’s always nice to see a bit of colour coming into play for the warmer months, just be brave enough to stand out from the crowd.

(Versace, Christopher Kane, Richard Quinn)

  1. Soft Leather

What was an A/W essential, is now a Spring must-have. Designers from multiple fashion houses have chosen to give the material a pop of colour with soft tailoring. We’re all here for that orange Sally LaPointe jacket, but we will certainly be reserving these for the cooler days, can’t imagine sweating in leather would be too pleasant on a hot summers day…

(Bottega Veneta, Coach 1941, Sally LaPointe)

  1. Crochet

Not just your average arts & grafts crochet, but beautifully intricate & delicate textures to form feminine dresses and evening wear. In love with the crochet and blazer pairing by Giambattista Valli, genius.

(Salvatore Ferragamo, Marni, Giambattista Valli)

  1. Disco Collar

Studio 54 is having a moment next season, but except with the usual sparkle & glam, it’s with oversized 70’s collars. Bonus points for wearing bright coloured shirts to accentuate the collar. Why not go all out with the full suit, the whole shebang.

(Lanvin, Fendi, Wales Bonner)

  1. Bra Tops

Now, if you’re confident to rock the bra trend and walk the streets in your undies, then bravo to you. For me, not so much. However, layering with sheer tops, crochet or popping an oversized blazer on top is something I can get on board with.

(Loewe, Givenchy, Giambattista Valli)

  1. Neon

We see the highlighter trend come and go quite often, but for SS20 it’s back, and in more colours than one. There’s very much a love-hate relationship with this trend, too OTT and it can look v tacky. Opting for the bright pink or blue is much easier on the eyes than that awful ‘Stylo Highlighter’ green-y yellow. You know which i’m talking about…

(Victoria Beckham, Jacquemus, Boss)
